After many years of wear and tear, a wooden floor needs renovation. Perhaps you just want to restore it the way it was, or take the opportunity to change it's appearance. We love to restore floors to their very best. Below you will see the steps we use when restoring wooden floors.

Repairs & Restoration
The first step in the sanding process is to secure any loose floor boards using lost head nails. Uplift any split or dangerous board and replace with reclaimed pine or hardwood floor.

Option 'A': Gap filling (up to 5mm)
If you have decided to have the gaps filled this is the next stage: the gaps can either be filled using a mix of resin mixed with saw dust.

Option 'B': Gap filling (5mm-12mm)
The second method is to insert and glue wood slivers between the gaps in your floorboards.

Sanding - Stripping - Buffing
We feel that three stages of sanding are required to produce a quality restored floor. A coarse grade sanding belt, stripping, and finish with a fine buffing.

Staining
This can bring fresh warm tones to a room, as this is an important decision. A number of test stain patches can be applied to your floor for you to view and make your choice. Staining brings a new element of idea's with hardwood floors and we have an extensive range for you to choose from.

Sealing
Whether a stain has been chosen or not, the floor is ready to have either a lacquer, or, oiled finish. If a lacquer is required, we will apply 3 coats, an oiled finish will require 2 coats
